PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound which is a useful intermediate for agricultural chemicals, medicines, dyes, etc., in high purity and yield without carrying out heating and cooling, by reacting tert-butyl alcohol with diketene in the presence of a 4-(tert-amino)pyridine. n CONSTITUTION: Tert-Butyl alcohol is reacted with diketene in the presence of a 4-(tert-amino)pyridine, preferably in a solvent, such as acetonitrile, at 0-100°C, preferably 25-80°C to afford the aimed compound. For example, 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine, etc., are cited as the 4-(tert-amino)pyridine. The reaction can be accelerated by using a catalytic amount thereof and the amount thereof used is normally 0.001-1mol, preferably 0.001-0.02mol based on 1mol tert-butyl alcohol. Furthermore, the aimed compound is used, reacted with a nitrosating agent and then passed through several steps of alkylation, de- esterification reactions, etc., to provide cephalo compounds. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio |
