PURPOSE: To obtain a β-alkoxyketone or an acetal derivative thereof in high yield for a short time by reacting an aromatic acetal with an enol alkyl ether using an electrolytic acid having high activity as an acid catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: An aromatic acetal (e.g., benzaldehyde dimethyl acetal) expressed by formula I (R 1 is H, halogen, alkoxy or bydrocarbon; R 2 is hydrocarbon or two groups R 2 may form a ring) is reacted with an enol alkyl ether (e.g., 1-methory-1-cyclohexene) expressed by formula II (R 3 and R 4 are H or hydrocarbon; R 5 is hydrocarbon or R 3 and R 5 may form a ring) in the presence of a reaction catalyst (especially preferably a cathodic electrolyte obtained by dissolving sodium hexafluorophosphite in acetonitrile) in a solvent (especially preferably the acetonitrile) to afford the aimed β-alkoxyketone or acetal derivative thereof [e.g., 2-(1-methoxy-1-phenylmethyl)cyclohexanone]. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio |
