abstract PURPOSE: To allow the user or a sensor to monitor the presence of vapors of an organic substance repetitively optically and visually by covering at least one surface of a substrate with a dispersion material containing a specific transition metal double-complex salt. n CONSTITUTION: A bis-acetonitrile-Pt-dihalide, an isonitrile, and a salt with the formula [Pb(CN) 4 ] -2 are mixed in an organic liquid to obtain the vapocheromic double-complex salt being transition metal double-complex salt that consists of four arenyl isonitrile ligands each having at least one aliphatic chain denoted in formula below (L is H or a fatty group, on the condition that at least one L has 8-20 of C and hetero atoms in total (however, a hetero atom has 0-4 of single S, N, O), the L has at least 6 straight-chains of C bonded to a C 6 H 4 ring), and that has two metal complex ions, where the anions are tetrakis isonitrile platinum ions, the cartions are tetracyanopalladate ion and each of the ions take a transition metal double-complex salt provided with a planer rectangular structure. Then the organic liquid containing the double-complex salts are coated on the substrate and then dried.
