titleOfInvention Optical resolution of methylserine
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain R-methylserine and S-methylserine of high optical purity by conducting optical resolution of racemic methyl serine which is a useful amino acid as a constituting component of an antibiotic, amicetin. n CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution containing an optical active cyclic tetramine cobalt complex of formula I (the configuration of an asymmetric carbon atom. labeled with * is RRRR, SSSS) and (RS)-methylserine of formula II is adjusted in its pH to 8.0W8.5, combined with a perchlorate salt to give a methylserine- containing optically active cyclic tetramine cobalt complex of formula III (X is Br, ClO 4 ; when X is Br, n is 1, 2; when X is ClO 4 , n is 2). A base is allowed to react with the complex to liberate optically active methyl serine. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
