titleOfInvention Polycarbonamide of bis(2-(-carboxyphenyl) hexafluoroisopropyl)diphenyl ether
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a polycarbonamide of bis[2-(4-carboxyphenyl) hexafuoroisopropyl)diphenyl ether with specified repeating units and logarithmic viscosity, which can be melt-molded at a relatively low temp., has superior mechanical and chemical properties, good resistances to light, heat and soiling, and which is useful for molded articles such as fibers. n CONSTITUTION: A diamine [such as 2,2-hexafluoro-bis(4-aminophenyl)propane], and water and THF as solvent are added into a reactor. Then, 4,4'-bis[2-(4- chlorocarbophenyl)hexafluoroisopropyl]diphenyl ether is added dropwise in the presence of sodium hydorogencarbonate and allowed to react with each other while stirring. Thereafter, the formed polymer is precipitated and separated by adding a plenty of water, to obtain the objective polymer having repeating units expressed by the formula (wherein R is a bivalent group such as an aromatic part having 1-4 carbon-6-membered rings each with benzenoid unsaturation, a 1-20C aliphatic part and a 4-18C alicyclic aliphatic part; (n) is a sufficient large number) and having logarithmic viscosity of 0.2 dl/g measured at 25°C in dimethylacetamide in the concn. of 0.5 wt.% in the polymer. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO
