abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the title base composition raising percutaneous absorption of drug, containing a fatty acid ester and a higher alcohol and to prepare a drug composition for external use consisting of the title base composition and a drug. n CONSTITUTION: The title base composition containing a compound (e.g., isopropyl myristate) shown by formula I (R 1 is 7W18C saturated aliphatic group or an aliphatic group containing 1W3 double bonds at carbons except the α-position) and a compound (e.g., octyl alcohol) shown by formula II (R 3 is 8W20C saturated aliphatic group or aliphatic group containing 1W3 double bonds at carbons except the α-position) in the weight ratio of the 1W5:5W1 (preferably 1W3:3W1). 0.5W10wt.% based on the sum of the title base composition is added to a drug component to give a drug composition for external use.
