titleOfInvention Basic protein, its derivative and fragment, and their use
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a basic protein of phospholipase A2 (PLA2) type that is composed of 118 amino acids and has both enzymatic activity and cytotoxin activity as well as antitumor activity from a venomous snake of Elapidae family. n CONSTITUTION: This basic protein of phospholipase A2 (PLA2) type, which is composed of 118 amino acid, a molecular weight in the order of 13325 Dalton and an isoelectric point in the order of 8.6, is obtained by subjecting the venom of a snake of Elapidae family, preferably Naja snake, particularly Naja nigricollis or Naja mossambica pallida, to ion exchange chromatography which uses salts of weak organic acids, preferably ammonium acetate, for elution of the venom, and then to a second ion exchange chromatography using an elution liquid having enzymatic activity, and purifying the thus isolated protein by high-speed liquid chromatography. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO
