abstract PURPOSE:To prevent quenching due to a temperature rise by fitting a temperature sensor for detecting the temperature rise to a current limiting element end section easy to be affected by heat or a connecting-section normal conductor section between current limiting elements. CONSTITUTION:An internal vessel 2 is installed into a metallic vessel 1, and the inside of the internal vessel 2 is filled with liquid nitrogen 4. A current limiting unit 5 composed of an oxide superconductor is housed in the liquid nitrogen 4. A sensor 12 for detecting a temperature rise is arranged into the current limiting unit 5, and an output from the sensor 12 is extracted to the outside of the metallic vessel 1 through a low tension bushing 13 having heat- insulating structure, and connected to a signal processor 15 through a cable 14.
