abstract | PURPOSE:To attempt to improve impact resistance and heat resistance and to decrease remaining monomer, by adding specified elastomer and compd. in carrying out simultaneously bulk-polymn. and molding of a metathesis- polymerizable monomer in a mold in the presence of a metathesis polymn. catalyst. CONSTITUTION:In a molded item obtd. by polymerizing a metathesis- polymerizable monomer (e.g., a cyclic olefin such as dicyclopentadiene) by using a metathesis polymn. catalyst such as a W-Al system, the title molded item is obtd. by a soln. contg. a soluble elastomer wherein the content of repeating units having carbon-carbon double bonds is 10mol% or less based on the total repeating units (e.g., an ethylene-propylene rubber or an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer) and a remaining monomer decreasing agent forming a radical when reduced by oxidation-reduction reaction with a compd. having a valence which is lower than the highest valence of a transition metal element in said catalyst (e.g., omega,omega'-dichlorodiphenylmethane). |
