titleOfInvention Production of indoles
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the above compound useful as a production raw material for amino acid enriching agent for animal feed, etc., in high yield, using only a small amount of catalyst, without necessitating the presence of molecular oxygen, etc., by the dehydrogenative cyclization reaction of o-alkylanilines in the presence of a specific catalyst at a specific temperature. n CONSTITUTION: Indoles are produced by the dehydrogenative cyclization reaction of o-alkylanilines (e.g. o-ethylaniline). The catalyst used in the reaction is a crystalline metal silicate (e.g. crystalline gallosilicate) having a molar ratio of SiO 2 to M 2/n O (n is atomic valence of the metal M) of ≥12. The reaction temperature is ≥450°C, preferably 500W750°C. The metal silicate is incorporated, as necessary, with other metal component such as Fe, Ni, etc., especially preferably gallium component. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
