titleOfInvention Preparation of diorganopolysiloxane having one si-bonded hydroxyl groups in each terminal unit
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare diorganopolysiloxanes having a desired viscosity and a narrow molecular weight distribution at a low cost and in good yield, by reacting a cyclic diorganopolysiloxane and/or diorganodichlorosilane hydrolyzate with a specific amount of diorganochlorosilane in the presence of phosphonitrile chloride, then applying water treatment and distillation. n CONSTITUTION: The diorganopolysiloxane having one Si-bonded chlorine atom in each terminal unit is prepared by reacting (A) cyclic diorganopolysiloxane of formula I, wherein R 2 represents a hydrocarbon halide group having 1 to 18C; (n) is 3 to 11 and/or (B) diorganodichlorosilane hydrolyzate with (C) 0.1 to 3 wt.% of diorganochlorosilane of formula II based on the weight of A and/or B component in the presence of (D) 1 to 50 ppm by weight of phosphonitrile chloride based on the total weight of the organosilicon compounds employed. The reaction mixture is treated with water or aqueous solution until having a pH of 5 to 9. After an inactive solvent such as benzol etc., is added, if desired, and the aqueous layer is separated, the low-boiling components are removed by distillation. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO
