titleOfInvention Preparation of diorganopolysiloxane having terminal triorganosiloxy unit
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare diorganopolysiloxanes having desired viscosity and a narrow molecular weight distribution at a low cost and in good yield by reacting a cyclic diorganopolyisloxane and/or diorganodichlorosilane hydrolyzate with a specific amount of triorganochlorosilane, and then subjecting them to condensation and distillation. n CONSTITUTION: The α-triorganosiloxane-ω-chloro-diorganopolysiloxane is prepared by reacting (A) cyclic diorganopolysiloxane of formula I, wherein R 2 represents a hydrocarbon halide group of 1 to 18C; (n) is 3 to 11 and/or (B) diorganodichlorosilane hydrolyzate with (C) 0.050 to 3 wt.% of triorganochlorosilane of formula II based on the weight of A and/or B component in the presence of (D) 1 to 50 ppm by weight of phosphonitrile chloride based on the total weight of the organosilicon compounds employed. This α-triorganosiloxane-ω-chloro-diorganopolysiloxane is condensed by adding (E) a diorganopolysiloxane of formula III having one Si-bonden hydroxyl group in each of the terminal units in an amount of 1 to 1.2 gram-moles of Si-bonded hydroxyl group in this diorganopolysiloxane per gram-atom of Si-bonded chlorine in the component (C). After (F) hexaorganodisilazane is added to the reaction mixture, the low-boiling components are removed by distillation. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO
