abstract |
PURPOSE: To obtain the compound at a high purity and in a high yield by a simple and easy production by allowing 3-(4'-bromobiphenyl)-3-hydroxy-4-phenyl butyric acid ethyl ester to react with trialkyl silane in the presence of trifluoro acetic acid. n CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I is reacted with trialkyl silane in the presence of trifluoro acetic acid to obtain 3-(4'-bromobiphenyl)-4-phenyl butylic acid of formula II. The compound of formula I is obtained by allowing p-bromobiphenyl benzyl ketone of formula III to react with bromo ethyl acetate in the presence of a mixed solvent. The compound of formula II is useful for producing 3-(4'-bromobiphenyl-4-yl) tetralin-1-one of formula IV as an important intermediate for rodenticides and pharmaceuticals. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO |
