titleOfInvention Production of acrylamide
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the title compound useful as a paper strength-enhancing agent, by reacting acrylonitrile with water in the presence of Raney copper catalyst consisting of a raw material alloy produced from a specific method. n CONSTITUTION: Acrylonitrile is reacted with water in the presence of Raney copper catalyst to provide acryl amide. As the characteristics of the reaction, when the raw material alloy of Raney copper is produced, alloy in liquid melt state is cooled and cooling speed in solidification is ≥1×10 2 K/sec and the raw material alloy contains one or two or more kind of metals selected from Al, Si and Zn and copper as main component. A metal selected from Sc, Y, Ti, Zr, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Tc, Re, etc., is contained as a small quantity of component. Since the above-mentioned reaction has high catalyst activity, even when the reaction is carried out at temperature 5W50°C lower than usual, production of same level is made possible. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
