titleOfInvention | Water-expansive coating composition |
abstract | PURPOSE: To produce a water expansive coating compsn. capable of filling the joint cavity of a steel sheet pile with a water-expanded material having high mechanical strength, preventing the water-expanded material from shrinking and maintaining water cut-off capacity for a prolonged period of time, by dispersing an ionizable water-absorbent polymer and a polyvalent metal compd. in an elastomer soln. in an org. solvent. n CONSTITUTION: This water-expansive coating compsn. comprises an ionizable water-absorbent polymer, a polyvalent metal compd. and an elastomer soln. in an org. solvent. Representative examples of the polymer include a sodium salt of a carboxylated polymer, such as carboxymethylcellulose, an acrylic acid-vinyl alcohol copolymer, and a polyacrylic acid. Pref. examples of the polyvalent metal compd. include calcium oxide, aluminum sulfate, and chromium sulfate. Pref. examples of the elastomer include chloroprene rubber and an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer. For the formulation of the above-mentioned compsn., it is pref. to use 100W400 pts.wt. ionizable water-absorbent polymer, 5W50 pts.wt. polyvalent metal compd. and 300W500 pts.wt. org. solvent per 100 pts.wt. elastomer. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio |
