titleOfInvention Resorcylic acid ester compound
abstract NEW MATERIAL:1-Phenoxy-2-propyl resorcylate of formula. n USE: A color-developing agent for pressure-sensitive or heat-sensitive paper. It exhibit a proper melting point, is resistant to crystallization and has excellent solubility in oil. n PREPARATION: The compound of formula is produced by reacting resorcylic acid with tosylate of corresponding alcohol in the presence of a base (e.g., NaOH or KOH) in a solvent (e.g., acetone or dimethyl-formamide) at room temperature W150°C, preferably 50W140°C for 1W20hr. The molar ratio of the tosylate to resorcylic acid is 0.5W4 and that of the base to the tosylate is 1W2. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
