titleOfInvention Production of tetrahydrophthalimide based compound, intermediate thereof and production of said intermediate
abstract PURPOSE: To readily obtain the title compound useful as a herbicide in high purity and yield, by reacting an aniline derivative being a novel compound and used as a starting material with 3,4,5,6-tetrahydrophthalic anhydride in the presence of a specific catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: A novel 4-chloro-2-fluoro-5-(pentyloxycarbonylmethyloxy)-aniline expressed by formula I is reacted with 3,4,5,6-tetrahydrophthalic anhydride in the presence of a catalyst of nitrogen-containing base and lower fatty acid, preferably in an organic solvent such as toluene at 50°CWtemperature to boiling point of solvent, preferably at temperature range of 80W120°C to provide the compound expressed by formula II. 1.0W2.0 equivalent 3,4,5,6-tetrahydrophthalic anhydride and 0.001W0.5 equivalent nitrogen-containing base based on the compound expressed by formula I which is a raw material and 1.0W2.0 equivalent lower fatty acid based on 1.0 equivalent nitrogen-containing base are used during reaction. Furthermore, the compound expressed by formula I is synthesized by reducing the compound expressed by formula III. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
