abstract PURPOSE: To form a flame-retardant for resins keeping flame retardancy, harmlessness, processability and physical properties and having excellent resistance to carbonization, by homogeneously dispersing magnesium carbonate, basic magnesium carbonate, calcium carbonate or basic calcium carbonate in magnesium hydroxide. n CONSTITUTION: This flame-retardant for resin is a material wherein magnesium carbonate, basic magnesium carbonate, calcium carbonate or basic calcium carbonate is homogeneously dispersed and included in magnesium hydroxide and which is inert to carbonation. It is pref. that 0.4W12wt.% (in terms of CO 2 ) carbonate such as magnesium carbonate is homogeneously dispersed in magnesium hydroxide. To prepare said flame-retardant for resin, a method wherein carbon dioxide gas is blown into a slurry contg. magnesium hydroxide alone or magnesium hydroxide and calcium hydroxide can be cited. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
