titleOfInvention | Novel aldehyde compound and production thereof |
abstract | NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (X is lower haloalkyl or lower haloalkoxy; R 1 and R 2 are H or methyl). n EXAMPLE: 3-(4-Trifluoromethylphenylthio)propionaldehyde. n USE: A raw material for the production of herbicide. n PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a substituted benzenethiol of formula II with an α,β-unsaturated aldehyde of formula III in the presence of a base (e.g., triethylamine) in a solvent (e.g., THF) at a temperature between 0°C and the boiling point of the solvent. The reaction is carried out by using 1W1.2 equivalent of the compound of formula III and 0.0005W0.05 equivalent of catalyst based on 1 equivalent of the compound of formula II. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio |
