titleOfInvention Drug composition for controlling release of drug consisting essentially of polyester
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare a drug composition capable of prolonging the release of an effective amount of a drug and regulating the release thereof by using a (co)polymer derived from a dicarboxylic acid in the Krebs circuit and a specific diol as a carrier for the drug. CONSTITUTION: This drug composition in the form of microcapsules or fine particles for infection comprises a biodegradable polymer or/and a copolymer, having 2,000-50,000, preferably 2,000-10,000 average molecular weight and derived from a dicarboxylic acid selected from an acid in the Krebs circuit (e.g. fumaric acid or succinic acid) and a 4C aliphatic diol (preferably butane-1,4- or butane-2,3-diol) or cyclohexane-1,4-dimethanol as a carrier for a drug. The drug in an amount of about 0.5-20wt.% is contained in the composition. Furthermore, a composition prepared by dispersing the microcapsules or fine particles for injection having 1-500μm average particle diameter in an excipient for parenteral injection is preferred.
