titleOfInvention | Preparation of polyarylene sulfide |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain polyarylene sulfides without the use of any solvents by a condensation process by elimination of volitile compounds, by reacting bis (silyl)thioethers with dihalogenated aromatic compounds in the presence of a specific catalyst and interphase moving catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: A mixture consisting of (A) bis (silyl)thioether of formula I and/or II (wherein, Ar is a monocyclic or fused polycyclic 1-24C aromatic groupwith two bonds; R is a 1-4C alkyl group and the like) and (B) dihalogenated aromatic compounds of formula III (wherein, Hal is a halogen atom) in that the mixing ratio of A:B=0.9:1-1.1:1 are reacted in the presence of 0.01-1% by weight of catalysts such as alkali metal and/or alkali earth metal and the like and 0.01-1% by weight of interphase catalysts, at a temperature of 150-400°C to eliminate halogenated trialkyl silane and the like. If necessarily, a halogenated arylthiosilane may be compounded to the mixtures. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO |
