abstract PURPOSE: To form a coating composition good in smoothness, blackness, hiding power, light resistance, electrical insulating property, heat stability, etc., and suitable for use in inks, by using a specified titanium oxide or oxynitride as a black pigment in a black coating composition based on a resin binder and said black pigment. n CONSTITUTION: A black coating composition based on a resin binder and a black pigment, wherein said black pigment is a fine powder of a titanium oxide or oxynitride of the general formula: TiN x O y (wherein 0≤x<1.25 and 0.16<y<2), and a volume specific resistivity ≥10 5 Ω.cm.
