abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the subject coating material capable of preventing or controlling the rapid proliferation of pathological and saprozoic organic body, comprising a coating body of an extremely thin rolled zinc foil or zinc tape provided with a self-bonding or a pressure-sensitive bonding adhesive layer on the whole surface. CONSTITUTION: This coating material consists essentially of a coating body of an extremely thin rolled zinc foil or zinc tape having 0.08-0.1mm thickness provided with a self-bonding or a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer such as an acrylic or elastomer-based glue having 0.04-0.6mm thickness on the whole surface. The adhesive layer is provided with a separable silicone backing paper or silicone protecting paper. Since the visible surface of the zinc is smooth and can prevent proliferation of bacteria, etc., the coating material capable of extremely improving a hygienic environment and being readily stuck to an object is obtained. The adhesive layer may be an electroconductive adhesive layer consisting essentially of a mixture of dispersed metal powder of zinc.
