titleOfInvention Sensing tool for analysis
abstract PURPOSE: To measure the chemical property of a sample accurately and rapidly by enabling a porous glass that is melted at the tip of a glass optical fiber to absorb a fluorescent substance whose fluorescent intensity changes according to the chemical property of a sample. n CONSTITUTION: Powdery sand, boric acid, and sodium carbonate are melted to prepare parent glass with a composition of SiO 2 (67.4%), B 2 O 3 (25.7%), and Na 2 O (6.9%). The parent glass is melted again to form a string shape. The fiber edge of the parent glass and one edge 4 of a marketed glass fiber 2 are melted in flame, thus eliminating the large part of the parent glass and obtaining a small molten glass chip 6. After the chip is heated, it is leached out at 50°C for 25 hours by 3N Hcl water solution. For example, perylene-3,9-dicarbon acid diisobutylester chloroform solution is absorbed by the porous glass chip 6 thus prepared and the glass chip 6 is dried. A sensor changes its fluorescent sensitivity due to the partial pressure of oxygen in a sample liquid. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO
