titleOfInvention Capped polydiene
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a capped polydiene having a high level of affinity for carbon black by reacting a polydiene having a metallic terminal groups with a specified capping agent. n CONSTITUTION: A polydiene having metallic terminal groups selected from among Ba, Li, Mg, Na and K and having a number average mol.wt. of 50,000-500,000 is reacted at a temp. of 0-150°C with a capping agent selected from among halogenated nitriles of formula I (where X is a halogen and A is a 1-20C alkylene), heterocyclic arom. nitrogen-contg. compds. such as pyridine and alkyl benzoates of formula II (where R is a 1-20C alkyl) to obtain the objective capped polydiene having a polymer chain consisting of repeating units derived from at least one conjugated diolefin monomer and having members selected from among cyanide groups and heterocyclic arom. nitrogen- contg. groups at the terminals. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO
