titleOfInvention | Production of silicon carbide sheet |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the title thin sheet useful as a heating element for electronic oven, having excellent flexibility and electronic characteristics, by making a fiber aggregate of nonwoven fabric shape comprising (infusibilized) fiber of polycarbosilastyrene copolymer into a sheet and calcining in an inert gas. n CONSTITUTION: Polysilastyrene is heat-treated in an inert gas at 350W450°C for 0.1W5hours to give a polycarbosilastyrene which contains carbosilane bond and silastyrene bond in the main chain in the molar ratio of copolymerization of 3:7W7:3 and having ≥1,000 numberaverage molecular weight, which is subjected to melt spinning to give yarn and/or infusibilized by a means such as ultraviolet radiation or heating to give yarn. The yarn, for example, is optionally cut into proper length and made into fiber webs. Plural sheets of the webs are laminated and bonded to give a fiber aggregate of nonwoven fabric shape. Then the fiber aggregate is incorporated with an organic or inorganic binder, compressed by rollers into a sheet with 0.01W0.1mm thickness, optionally infusibilized in an inert gas at 300W500°C for 1W5hours and calcined by heating in an inert gas at 800W1,500°C for 0.5W5hours. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio |
