titleOfInvention Sulfur-containing aliphatic acrylic compound
abstract NEW MATERIAL:The sulfur-containing aliphatic acrylic compound of formula I (R 1 is H or CH 3 ; R 2 and R 3 are 1W8C aliphatic hydrocarbon group). n EXAMPLE: 1,2-Bis(acryloyloxyethylthio)ethane. n USE: A raw material for optical lens, especially lens for correction eyeglass. It can be polymerized by cast-polymerization and is useful for forming a cured product having high refractive index and Abbe number and low specific gravity by polymerization. n PREPARATION: The objective compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a sulfur-containing aliphatic polyol of formula II with an acylation agent of formula III (X is Cl or OH) at -10W+50°C, preferably -10W+30°C. The reaction is carried out in a solvent such as benzene in the presence of a mineral acid (e.g., sulfuric acid) or an organic acid (e.g., p-toluenusulfonic acid) when X of the compound of formula III is OH or in a solvent such as tetrahydrofuran in the presence of an organic base such as triethylamine when X of the compound of formula III is Cl. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
