titleOfInvention Male sterilizing agent for paddy rice
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a male sterilizing agent for paddy rice, capable of precise castration using a chemical means, by combining 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-carboxy-4,6- dimethylpyrid-2-one or a salt thereof with 2-chloroethylphosphonic acid. n CONSTITUTION: A male sterilizing agent, obtained by combining two kinds of male sterilizing agents for paddy rice of 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-carboxy-4,6- dimethylpyrid-2-one expressed by formula I or a salt thereof with 2- chloroethylphosphonic acid expressed by formula II as active ingredients and having low toxicity. The blending ratio of the active ingredients is 0.1W20pts.wt., preferably 1W10pts.wt. compound expressed by formula II based on 1pt.wt. compound expressed by formula I. Quality improvement by artificial crossing can be readily carried out for enhancing properties, such as disease, cold, salt tolerance and high yielding ability for paddy rice. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
