titleOfInvention Tissue culture of plant
abstract PURPOSE: To produce a large amount of a metabolic product of a plant, especially a tropane alkaloid in high efficiency, by carrying out tissue culture of a plant tissue in a medium containing an (arymethyl)butanedioic acid or its derivative. n CONSTITUTION: Tissue of a plant capable of producing tropane alkaloid, e.g., plant belonging to genus Duboisia, genus Datura, genus Scopolia or genus Hyoscyamus is subjected to tissue culture in a medium containing an (arylmethyl)butanedioic acid or its derivative. A tropane alkaloid such as scopolamine or hyoscyamine can be produced in high efficiency by the above tissue culture of a plant capable of producing tropane alkaloid. The medium for the tissue culture may contain phytohormones, vitamins, etc., in addition to the essential component consisting of the (arylmethyl)butanedioic acid or its derivative. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
