abstract | NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (X and Y are H or methyl; Y is methyl when X is H, and Y is H when X is methyl; A is thiol-protecting group eliminable with halogenation agent). n EXAMPLE: trans-1-Propenyl tritylsulfide. n USE: A synthetic intermediate for di(1-propenyl)disulfide useful as spices, antimicrobial agent, agricultural chemicals, pharmaceuticals, etc. The di(1- propenyl)disulfide is a drug-active component of garlic. n PREPARATION: The objective compound of formula I can be produced by isomerizing an allyl thiol derivative of formula II in a solvent (e.g., THF) in the presence of a base (e.g., potassium t-butoxide) at 10W100°C for 5W60min.
