abstract PURPOSE:To produce a heat fixing roller at a high yield even if a low-hardness sponge layer or front layer is thin by holding a sponge roller in a metallic mold having a cylindrical hollow part coaxially with the inside surface of the mold and injecting a cold curing type silicone rubber liquid into the mold, then curing the liquid. CONSTITUTION:The liquid prepd. by diluting twofold the cold curing type silicone rubber having 35 hardness by n-hexane is spray-coated on the surface of the sponge roller and is rested for 24hr to annihilate the viscosity on the surface and to form a sealing layer 3a in the case of producing the sponge roller by providing the sponge layer consisting of silicone rubber having 17 hardness on the outside circumference of an arbor 1 made of aluminum. The circular cylindrical metallic mold is then used and the silicone rubber compsn. of the same kind as the silicone rubber used for forming the sealing layer 3a is then injected therein to form a non-sponge layer 3. The roller with the front layer having excellent performance and appearance is thereby obtd. at a high yield.
