titleOfInvention Manufacture of electroformed mold
abstract PURPOSE: To perform strongly a combination of an electroformed skin and backup material with a simple device, by a method wherein an arborescent protrusion to be generated through concentration of plating is grown on the electroformed skin and the backup material is cast to the backside of the electroformed skin where the protrusion has been formed. n CONSTITUTION: A conductive film 2 through a silver film is formed on the surface of a master model 1 with silver mirror treatment. The master model 1 whose electrode 11 has been connected with the cathode 12 is immersed into an electrolyte and a metal to be ionized is immersed into the electrolyte by connecting the metal with the anode, which is electrified. A metal is precipitated on the conductive film 2 of the master model 1 and plated layer becoming an electroformed skin 3 is formed. Concentration of plating is generated on a part close to an electrode or a corner part and polyps 31 are kept forming. After the electrcformed skin 3 has arrived at a predetermined thickness, polyps 4 are formed positively on the backside of the electroformed skin 3. A backup material 6 in a fluid state is cast to the backside of the electroformed akin 3 by surrounding the backside with a frame 61. After solidification of the backup material 6, the master model 1 is removed and an electroformed mold A is manufactured. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
