titleOfInvention Antifungal composition
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain an antifungal composition for nails which can effectively cure tinea unguium with film formation on the nail, by adding an antifungal agent to a base which is composed of polyvinyl acetate, esters of long-chain fatty acids of 8W20C and/or higher alcohol of 8W20C and a volatile solvent. n CONSTITUTION: The subject composition is composed of (A) 3W35pts.wt., per 100pts.wt. of the whole composition, of a polyvinyl acetate of 300W8,000 average polymerization degree, (B) 0.2W5pts.wt. of an antifungal, preferably an imidazole antifungal, (C) 0.1W4pts.wt. of esters of long-chain fatty acids of 8W20C and/or higher alcohol of 8W20C, and (D) 56W96.7pts.wt. of a volatile solvent. The composition is coated on the nail to form a film whereby the affected part is tightly sealed to swell the nail and promote the impregnation of the antifungal into nails. Simultaneously the composition can release the antifungal for a long time to enhance curative effect, whereby application times can be reduced. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
