titleOfInvention Hydrazide-containing thermoplastic polymer exhibiting nonlinear optical response
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a hydrazide-containing thermoplastic polymer which exhibits nonlinear optical response and can form a transparent film by polymerizing a specific acrylate type monomer. n CONSTITUTION: A acrylate type monomer (20 to 100 wt.%) of formula III obtained by reaction between (alkyl)acryloyl chloride of formula I (wherein R is H or 1-4C alkyl) and p-nitrophenylhydrazine of formula II (wherein Z is NO 2 ), if necessary, together with 80 to 0 wt.% of another comonomer such as ethylene, vinyl chloride, styrene, (meth)acrylamide, acrylonitrile, alkyl (meth) acrylate, is polymerized in the presence of a catalyst to obtain the hydrazide- containing thermoplastic polymer which contains recurring monomeric units of formula IV (wherein (m) is ≥3) and has 500 to 500,000 weight average molecular weight. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO
