titleOfInvention | Production of diphenyl amine |
abstract | PURPOSE: To efficiently and easily obtain the subject compd. useful for an antioxidant agent, accelerator, etc., of rubber at a lower temp., high conversion rate and good yield by using an alumina catalyst which has pores having a specific diameter and has a low sulfur content to bring the catalyst into contact with aniline. n CONSTITUTION: The catalyst having the sulfur content lower than about 0.02 wt.% determined by measuring at least about 30 vol.%, more preferably at least about 40 vol.%, more particularly preferably at least about 50 vol.% of total porosity in the form of the pores having the diameter between about 120 and about 200 Å and in the form of SO 4 is pretreated by at least one compd. selected from BF 3 and BF 3 -aniline salt. Such catalyst is used and is brought into contact with aniline of formula I under a reduced pressure to pressurization, more preferably under a pressure from the atm. pressure to 10 psig at 380 to 470°C, more preferably 400 to 465°C, by which the objective compd. of formula II useful as a stabilizer for plastics as well as an intermediate, etc., for insecticides, explosives, dyes and antioxidants is obtd. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO |
