titleOfInvention Production of modified polyester
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled polyester suitable for films which are excellent in surface flatness, slipperiness and releasability, by reaction between terephthalic acid (derivative) and diol (derivative) in the presence of a modified polyorganosiloxane having been specifically treated. n CONSTITUTION: In the presence of (A) a product from the reaction, in a solvent (e.g. toluene), between (i) a modified polyorganosiloxane with an average mol.wt. of pref. 1,000W6,000, or formula I [R is lower alkyl; R 1 is of formula II (l is 2W10); R 2 is R or R 1 ; n is degree of polymerization] [e.g., α,ω-bis(dimethyl-2- hydroxethylsiloxy)-polydimethylsiloxan-e] and (ii) a titanium compound of formula III (R 3 is alkyl), (B) terephthalic acid and (C) a diol (e.g. ethylene glycol) are allowed to react, thus obtaining the objective polyester. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
