abstract | The present invention provides a method of modifying genomic DNA in eukaryotic cells in vitro and a method of detecting the modification. The present invention may include, for example, introducing a base sequence having 50% or more sequence identity with any one of the base sequences of a retrotransposon contained in genomic DNA. The present invention may also include altering the insertion position of at least one of the retrotransposon base sequences with respect to their respective peripheral sequences.
