An ultra-thin ceramic green sheet having a thickness of 1 μm or less can be peeled with a low and uniform force, and defects such as pinholes are not likely to occur, and migration of a silicone component to the ceramic green sheet is suppressed. Provided is a release film for producing a ceramic green sheet. SOLUTION: The biaxially oriented polyester film is used as a base material, and the base material has a surface layer A which does not substantially contain inorganic particles on at least one surface thereof, and is directly or at least on one surface of the surface layer A. A release layer is laminated via another layer, and the release layer is formed by curing a composition containing at least a release agent and a melamine compound, and the release agent contains a carboxyl group. A release film for producing a ceramic green sheet, which is a polyorganosiloxane and in which the content of the melamine compound is 80% by mass or more based on the solid content of the composition for forming a release layer.
