abstract The refrigeration cycle apparatus of the present invention includes a refrigerant circuit including a compressor, a condenser, and an evaporator. A refrigerant is sealed in the refrigerant circuit. The compressor is filled with refrigerating machine oil. In the electric motor section of the compressor, an insulating material containing a polyester-based resin is immersed in the refrigeration oil. The solubility parameter of the mixture of the refrigerant and the refrigerating machine oil is 8.2 or more and 9.0 or less. The refrigerating machine oil is a polyol ester oil. The polyol ester oil is an ester reaction product of at least one of pentaerythritol and neopentyl glycol and a fatty acid, and the fatty acid has 4 to 9 carbon atoms. The ratio of the straight chain fatty acid contained in a fatty acid is 10 mass% or more and 70 mass% or less.
