abstract | The present invention provides a rust preventive composition having excellent weather resistance and corrosion resistance even in a severe corrosive environment by applying to the surface of an iron material in an iron structure. The rust preventive composition includes a curable silicone resin, magnesium, aluminum and zinc dispersed as metal powder in the curable silicone resin. Magnesium is contained in an amount of 0.21 to 10.3 mass% in the metal powder dispersion of the curable silicone resin. Aluminum is contained in an amount of 3.0 to 19.3 mass% in the metal powder dispersion of the curable silicone resin. 20.5-63.7 mass% of zinc is contained in the metal powder dispersion of curable silicone resin. The rust preventive composition is prepared so that the total amount of magnesium, aluminum and zinc falls within the range of 50:50 to 30:70 mass ratio of the curable silicone resin and the metal powder.
