titleOfInvention | Compound having alkadienyl group and liquid crystal composition using the same |
abstract | <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal compound having general properties necessary for a liquid crystal compound, that is, stability to heat, light, etc., low viscosity, a suitable refractive index anisotropy value, a suitable dielectric anisotropy value, steep electro-optical properties, a wide nematic phase temperature range, and excellent compatibility with other liquid crystal compounds, especially a liquid crystal compound having a wide nematic phase temperature range. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal compound is a compound represented by formula (1) (wherein, for example, R<SP>1</SP>is hydrogen; rings A<SP>1</SP>, A<SP>2</SP>, and A<SP>3</SP>are each 1,4-cyclohexylene or 1,4-phenylene; Z<SP>1</SP>, Z<SP>2</SP>, and Z<SP>3</SP>are each -CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>-, -CH=CH-, -C≡C-, -COO-, -OCO-, -CF<SB>2</SB>O-, -OCF<SB>2</SB>-, -CH<SB>2</SB>O-, or -OCH<SB>2</SB>-; L<SP>1</SP>and L<SP>2</SP>are each fluorine; X<SP>1</SP>is a 1-10C alkyl or a 1-10C alkoxy; m and n are each 0 or 1; and p is 0, 1, or 2). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
