abstract | <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for producing hydrogen by which hydrogen can be inexpensively generated from an organic compound by making use of thermal excitation of an oxide semiconductor, and in which this oxide semiconductor can be repeatedly used without losing its activity. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus 1 for producing hydrogen comprises: a reactor 2 which houses the oxide semiconductor 22 therein and produces hydrogen by partial oxidative decomposition of the organic compound by thermal excitation of the oxide semiconductor 22; a heater 3 provided to the reactor 2 to heat the oxide semiconductor 22 to a predetermined temperature; an organic compound feed pipe 4 for feeding the organic compound to the reactor 2; and an oxygen gas feed pipe 5 for feeding oxygen gas to the reactor 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
