abstract <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical modulation signal generation method for executing high-speed transmission having a high wavelength dispersion resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The optical modulation signal generation method generates an optical modulation signal by utilizing an optical modulation signal generation device. The optical modulation signal generation device comprises a frequency modulation light source for generating and outputting a frequency modulation signal, and an intensity modulator that generates an intensity modulation signal and receives the frequency modulation signal as an input so as to add intensity modulation to the frequency modulation signal by the intensity modulation signal.
