abstract | <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for an ethylene/vinyl alcohol-based copolymer capable of removing impurities such as a residue of a saponification catalyst generated in saponification, a by-product and a solvent to a high degree and efficiently manufacturing a uniform product with high quality. <P>SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for the ethylene/vinyl alcohol-based copolymer includes a main washing step in which a paste comprising a mixture of an ethylene/vinyl alcohol-based copolymer and an alcohol or a mixture of an ethylene/vinyl alcohol-based copolymer and water/alcohol is introduced into a column type washing tank and is kneaded by applying shearing force such that the surface of the paste and the inside are repeatedly interchanged while it is brought into contact with washing water in the column type washing tank, and a part or the entire part of the alcohol is discharged to the outside of the tank with washing water to obtain an ethylene/vinyl alcohol-based copolymer hydrate composition with less alcohol content.
