abstract | <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a droplet movement controlling device including an electret excellent in transparency, in which attenuation of the surface charge density is suppressed for a long period of time when droplets comprise a saturated hydrocarbon having a relatively large number of carbon atoms. <P>SOLUTION: The droplet movement controlling device 1 includes a common electrode 3, an electret 4 disposed on the common electrode, a plurality of counter electrodes 6a, 6b disposed opposing to the electret, an electrostatic energy control means for controlling the electrostatic energy between the electret and the counter electrodes, and a droplet 7 in contact with the electret, and controls movement of the droplet on the electret. The droplet contains a 10-17C saturated hydrocarbon, which is in a liquid state under conditions of 25°C and 10<SP>5</SP>Pa pressure.
