abstract | <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain visibility of an image more preferably compared to a method of forming an optically readable code pattern by other means than a gap forming member. <P>SOLUTION: An electronic paper 10 includes: a display layer 16 which is positioned in a gap between a light-transmitting top substrate 12 and a back substrate 14 opposing to the top substrate 12 and displays an image by application of an electric field; and a plurality of ribs 22 forming the gap between the top substrate 12 and the back substrate 14.
