abstract | <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner and an image forming method strong in developing electric field intensity and without generating leaking spots due to dielectric breakdown even under a low atmospheric pressure condition in a high speed developing system. <P>SOLUTION: Concerning the toner used for the image forming method having an electrostatic latent image forming process for forming an electrostatic latent image on a charged static charge image carrier, and a developing process for transferring the toner carried on a toner carrier on the electrostatic latent image to be visualized, the static charge image carrier is a photoreceptor sequentially laminating a photoconducting layer and a surface layer formed of hydrogenation amorphous silicon carbide. The sum of atomic density of silicon atoms and atomic density of carbon atoms of the surface layer is 6.60×10<SP>22</SP>atoms/cm<SP>3</SP>or more. The toner has a binder resin, toner particles containing a coloring agent, and inorganic fine powder.
