abstract | <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin which is capable of eliminating the predispersion into such a harmful solvent as THF or the like when preparing a water dispersion, by improving the adhesiveness of a polyester film by means of the formation of a coat by applying and coating it on the surface of a polyester film, and by improving the refractive index of the above coat, and also by improving the water dispersibility. <P>SOLUTION: The polyester resin is obtained by copolymerizing a multivalent carboxylic acid component and a polyol component. The above multivalent carboxylic acid component contains 60-95 mol% of at least one component of 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid and an esterifiable derivative thereof and 5-20 mol% of at least one component of a metal sulfonate group-containing dicarboxylic acid and an esterifiable derivative thereof.
