abstract | <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin, whose electric properties such as a value of resistance and a dielectric loss index are stable in environments of a low temperature and low humidity to an elevated temperature and high humidity. <P>SOLUTION: The polyester resin comprises an ethylenic unsaturated double bond and a carboxyl group, wherein the value of the formula of a peak strength of the carboxyl group (d<SB>c</SB>) and the double bond (d<SB>d</SB>) at an absorbance spectrum measured by an infrared spectrophotometer (IR): d<SB>d</SB>/(d<SB>d</SB>+d<SB>c</SB>) is ≥0.05 and ≤0.3, the amount of a sulfur atom is ≥0.03 wt.%, the amount of a metal atom is ≤0.15 wt.%, and the value of the brightness (L<SP>*</SP>) of a surface of a compression molded product, which is molded so as to provide the polyester product with a diameter of 6 cm and a thickness of 3 mm, is ≥92.0.
