abstract | [PROBLEMS] To provide a low capacitance and low discharge start voltage capable of stably exhibiting sufficient electrostatic protection function for a small, high-performance electronic device and an electronic device used for high-speed communication with a simple configuration. An electrostatic protection element and a manufacturing method thereof are provided. A pair of discharge electrodes 15 and 16 provided on an insulating substrate 12 and a discharge auxiliary electrode 14 for connecting the discharge electrodes 15 and 16 so as to connect a discharge gap D of the discharge electrodes 15 and 16 are provided. The discharge auxiliary electrode 14 has zinc oxide as a main component and has a varistor function, and is formed by thick film printing. An insulating dome forming layer 20 having a cavity 18 formed so as to cover the discharge gap D is provided.
